A soulful singer and songwriter, with a keen interest in music production, music has always inherently been a part of Luna’s life.
Her earliest memories of music was her dad singing classic love songs to lull her to sleep and her mum’s impressions of the Beatles and Elvis Presley. Records were a big part of their household, with sounds of 70s disco, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. Luna also remembers how much 80s pop she grew up with as well as falling in love with the New Jack Swing and classic hip-hop sounds of the 1990s. Playing instruments allowed her to appreciate indie, grunge, folk, alternative, ambient, chill-hop and downtempo music and she also loves house and EDM/dance.
Luna remembers being given a keyboard when she was 5 years old by her grandmother, where she and her brother would sing around the house a lot. She also learnt to play several other instruments (guitar, flute, clarinet and drums) during her time in high school, but stopped playing any instruments by the time she was 20.
Luna got into songwriting really by chance. Finding herself in a life-changing career situation was the catalyst in her exploring the things she loved to do, which always came back to music. She decided to enrol on a one-day songwriting course that ultimately altered her career path, which encouraged her to create, write and record music. Now she's started songwriting, she's self-learning music production, but has a very long way to go on that front!
Luna would describe her sound as soulful, but doesn't restrict herself to a particular "sound." She's much more influenced by the mood and feel of a song rather than putting it in a box, with a strong lyrical, melodic and musical feel to her storytelling and wants people to relate and feel connected to what's being said. There's so much music out there right now, it's incredibly intriguing and inspiring to be part of the digital music era.
Luna's first three solo singles are out now and available across all major online stores, as well as a few other collaborative tracks too.
